…cat on my knee, minding my own business
We hear a strange sound… something rustling under the little table beside me…
we both investigate… one of us more enthusiastically than the other…
and THIS is what we find!!!!! *shudder*
Rick saved me – scooping the weta into a jar and taking it outside to the garden.
And THAT is why it is good to have a man around.
Rick is away this weekend and I am not going outside at all.

HOLY @#$%^!!!
OMC, I’d freak–the entire townhouse complex would hear me screaming if I saw something like that in my house. Aagggghhhhh!
You know, that’s the ONLY thing I miss about not having a partner anymore–someone else to get rid of the yucky bugs. LOL.
I’d have to hire a man to ‘deal’ with such things
WTF is that?? I’ve never seen one and don’t want to again. Does it bite?
Cute isn’t it? NOT! It’s a Weta. They live outside in wood (trees, shrubs, fences and decking) They’re not poisonous, they don’t bite, but they can give you a scratch with those back legs… They don’t come inside unless personally invited by a pussy cat… thank all the Gods…
Sort of reminds me of a cricket, or grasshopper.
You are absolutely correct, though- getting the bugs is part of what menfolk are FOR! Cats can be a close second though, if no men are about. xxx
We have crickets and grasshoppers too – and the cats bring those in too… sigh XO
I would have run screaming into the night. Even the name “weta” is horrifying. Great googley moogly, how awful. Poor Janet.
I need to go lie down now.
I did the screaming, squealing, wetting my knickers thing…. big lump cat thought it hilarious… Rick – not so much….
Ewwww! Creepy, just creepy. Last night I walked into a spiderweb on our deck to discover a big ass spider hanging from my arm. Did I scream…oh yeaahhh.
Oh, oh, oh…. I could tell a couple of spider stories… one in Australia – the home of the HUGEST, UGLIEST spiders in the world… and the other HERE!!!!!!!!!!!
which MUST have been an import, because we don’t have anything like that here – so lucky. We have ugly – but not BIG ugly – unless they are imported… and attracted to cats….aaarrrrgggghhh!
I almost screamed as I scrolled down my iPad and saw that! Terrifying. I know they’re out there but haven’t had one in the house yet. I guess that is the only consolation I’ve found in not having a cat.
The worst thing my last cat dragged in was a rat that was almost bigger than her. I don’t how they both got through the cat door together.
Yoshi did the rat thing too! He is such a little cat and the rat was HUGE. And we couldn’t tell if it was dead, or just pretending (as they do – apparently) – we tried to herd him outside with it, but he wasn’t interested.
)
I made Rick deal with it (I deal with birds, vomit and vet visits – Rick does rodents and insects – it’s a fair division of labour
