I spent the afternoon sitting with Sue as she underwent her third chemo treatment.
I had expected it to be harrowing… In the end – I was there for four hours… The time flew. We talked and laughed the whole time.
The treatment time had been extended in an effort to reduce the side- effects which had been so ghastly last time. And it worked!
Not only was it easier at the time, but today – though she is cold, shaky, and her legs feel heavy – she is so much better than last time.
We are all hugely relieved – as you can imagine!
One day, everything will be better.
Until then, here is a picture of a cat.

Better

Let me tell you about my friend. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1996 – a year later (or two years???) it had spread throughout her entire body – spine, brain, liver… the liver had a tumour the size of a baby!! She had chemo and herceptin and every single bit of that cancer went. The doctors were amazed. Last year it came back in her brain and she had radiotherapy on it – again, it went. It is ongoing but at the moment she is all clear and that is seven years after first getting cancer when they gave her only months to live after the second cancer showed up.
There is always hope and I just wanted to share this because some people.. many people… do actually recover
I so needed to hear that! Thanks so much Lynda – and thank you for being here when your life is so busy right now. I send every good wish for the big day, and hope that it is completely fabulous. Don’t forget – we expect lots of photos! XO
Wow Janet…why did they not do that in the first place? I am happy to hear this round of chemo was more successful….although, it sure sounds brutal! What an amazing sister you are, bless your heart!
I don’t feel very amazing my friend
They should have changed the treatment length for the second round of chemo, but didn’t.
I’m afraid I don’t have much faith in the oncologist assigned to her case, but the nurses say he is very good… I guess we just have to keep on keeping on.
Sue is fizzing, that she is feeling so much better than last time – so that is a good thing. XO
